"The Price Is Right" host Drew Carey recently shared some surprising insights about the show in an interview with TV Insider. He revealed that it's not uncommon for contestants to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs before hearing the iconic phrase, "Come on down!"
Carey recounted instances where contestants had "a gummy" or smelled of alcohol, and even one who was "tripping on mushrooms." He humorously shared a story of a self-proclaimed "skateboarding rabbi" who was high on mushrooms during his appearance on the show.
Despite these behind-the-scenes revelations, Carey continues to uphold the show's tradition of promoting responsible pet ownership, adding his own message to the closing sign-off: "Take care of yourself, especially your mental health. It's so important, and I love you!"
This personal addition stems from Carey's own struggles with mental health. He emphasized the importance of seeking help and finding tools to cope with depression and grief.
In his message, Carey encourages viewers to embrace love, forgiveness, boundaries, and truthfulness for a better life. He believes his positive experiences on the show have helped him, and he wants to pass that positivity on to others.
