The monsoon system's impact was felt across various parts of Karachi on Wednesday afternoon, with strong dust-laden winds blowing during a thunderstorm.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the city's weather remained hot and humid, consistent with the past several days. From morning until noon, sea breezes were inactive, and northwestern winds from Balochistan blew towards the city. This created intense humidity and heatwave-like conditions. The maximum temperature reached 39 degrees Celsius with 48% humidity, and the heat index hit 50 degrees Celsius. Some areas experienced light drizzles and sprinkles.
In the afternoon, the weather suddenly changed. Initially, a thunderstorm with high-speed dust-laden winds was recorded in the suburban areas of Gadap and Surjani Town, reaching speeds of 54 kilometres per hour. Later, dusty winds also blew through other parts of the city, including Korangi, Federal B Area, Ayesha Manzil, and Water Pump.
