The Oscars invites diverse group of 487 artists and executives to join its ranks

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 487 artists and executives to join its membership, a diverse group representing a significant increase in female and underrepresented community representation. Notable invitees include actors Jessica Alba, Lily Gladstone, Catherine O'Hara, and directors such as S.S. Rajamouli ("RRR") and Boots Riley ("Sorry to Bother You").

This year's invitees include 44% women and 41% from underrepresented ethnic and racial communities, marking a significant step towards greater diversity and inclusion in the Academy.

The Academy's efforts to diversify its membership are reflected in the representation of women and underrepresented communities across various branches, including actors, directors, documentary filmmakers, and writers. With the addition of this new member class, the Academy's membership will surpass 10,900, with nearly 10,000 members eligible to vote in the 97th Oscars in 2025.
