A shopping centre security guard, obsessed with UK TV presenter Holly Willoughby, plotted to kidnap, rape, and murder her, a British court has been told.
According to a BBC report, Gavin Plumb is accused of devising a plan to kidnap, rape, and solicit the murder of the star, but his scheme was foiled by an undercover officer based in the US.
Plumb is alleged to have spent two years planning Ms Willoughby's murder, from 2021 to 2023. In preparation for the supposed attack, he acquired metal cable ties, a knife, and chloroform.
Plumb reportedly confided in an online acquaintance known as Marc, who was actually an undercover police officer in the US. Plumb sent a video to Marc showing a "kit of sexualized paraphernalia" laid out on a bed, which included hand and ankle shackles, a rope, and a ball gag.
Additionally, he meticulously planned how to abduct her from her home, transport her to his residence in Harlow, Essex, and kill her in an abandoned building where her screams "can't be heard."
As per, The Guardian, Plumb had accumulated over 10,000 images of Ms Willoughby on his phone, including deepfake pornography. He also monitored her movements and activities through social media.
In January 2022, Plumb posted in an online group called 'Abduct Lovers,' stating, ''Getting this b*tch is all I can think about. I have wanted this for years. I'm going to be living out my ultimate fantasy.'' The following month, he wrote, ''Getting her has been my ultimate fantasy for way too long. I'm now at the point where fantasy isn't enough anymore. I want the real thing.''
However, Plumb was arrested in October 2023 after the undercover US police officer foiled his sinister plans and alerted the Metropolitan Police.
The trial, expected to last two weeks, is ongoing while Plumb has denied all charges.
