After causing the split of a prominent Season 6 couple, this new arrival is facing backlash on social media, with fans expressing their disapproval.
New arrivals typically don't leave the best impressions among the other islanders, to put it mildly.
Since they arrive at the villa after couples have already formed, their only route to remain in the competition is by disrupting these established relationships.
That's precisely what Andrea Carmona accomplished upon entering the Season 6 villa. By diverting Rob Rausch's attention from Leah Kateb, she elicited a mixed reaction from viewers.
Most viewers harbored no ill will toward Andrea, understanding her aim was to find love, and she wasn't the one who betrayed Leah. However, those who perceive her actions negatively have flooded her social media with derogatory comments regarding her recent Instagram posts.
For example, the post she shared on June 17 has been inundated with comments labeling her as a "homewrecker" and calling her "trash."
Fans rush to Andrea Carmona’s defense
Fans swiftly turned to Reddit on June 22 to show their support for Andrea and voice their disapproval of the cyberbullying directed at the star.
A fan commented, “this is an entertainment show, and most of this is produced in some way or another. No need for hate comments on someone’s socials.”
Another fan added, “I think it’s getting worse. Andrea’s family will hopefully take over the account and stop the insanity.
A third Redditor proposed that the cast should disable or limit comments for their mental well-being at this stage.
This isn't the first instance of cyberbullying associated with the Love Island franchise. Recently, Georgia Steele took a hiatus from social media due to receiving criticism for her appearance on Love Island: All Stars Season 1.
As Andrea remains in the villa, the public may not hear her response to the online criticism unless she appears on Aftersun.
