RAWALPINDI:

Three people involved in the shooting and killing of two Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel and a private man in the Jhelum area a couple of days ago, were arrested in a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by the force and security agencies in Pasni, Balochistan.

The suspects were trying to escape to Iran from Gwadar.

Security forces are conducting raids to arrest two more accused who are at large.

The suspects riding a vehicle had opened fire on two ANF personnel and a private person working with them when a snap-checking team signalled the suspected vehicle to stop near Tarkai Toll Plaza on GT Road.

ANF officials began chasing the suspected vehicle and received fatal injuries in firing by the suspects who escaped into a nearby forest.

Dina police registered a case against the runaway suspects.

According to the ANF officials, the force continued searching for the accused in collaboration with the security agencies and later conducted an IBO in the Pasni area.

The officials stopped a passenger bus and managed to arrest the three accused.

Two of the arrested suspects were involved in the killing of both ANF personnel while another was their facilitator.

Fake identity documents were also recovered from their possession. An investigation has been launched with efforts in place to arrest the remaining two suspects.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Bilal Haider, Abid Ali and Ghufran Abbas, who hail from Gujarat and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, the Jhelum police denied receiving any information regarding the arrest of the accused, while the ANF officials confirmed that three accused were arrested from a passenger bus in Pasni.
