Meghan Markle criticised for launching products just before Trooping the Colour

The Duchess of Sussex launched new products for her brand hours before Trooping the Colour, sparking criticism.

Meghan Markle made a "ridiculous" mistake by launching two new products just hours before the Trooping the Colour event, a royal expert claims. 

The Duchess of Sussex introduced American Riviera Orchard raspberry jam and dog biscuits on the same day as the major royal event.

Prince Harry's friend Nacho Figueras posted a photo on Instagram showcasing the luxury raspberry jam and dog biscuits sent by Meghan. Meanwhile, Prince Harry did not acknowledge King Charles' official birthday or Father's Day, in stark contrast to Prince William, who shared a heartwarming photo of himself as a child with Charles.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams criticised the timing of Meghan's product launch in an exclusive interview with The Sun. He said, "Meghan and Harry know perfectly well every single thing they do is monitored by the press. The idea that they would do something on the day of Trooping the Colour is pretty silly."

Fitzwilliams continued, "We know in March Meghan launched American Riviera Orchard. She sent some 50 jars of strawberry jam to her pals and influencers, but this wasn't very impressive. There weren't many A-listers endorsing it. What's so odd is that she did anything on the day of Trooping the Colour at all. It doesn't make any sense."

He added, "I don't think it's been thought out. This makes no public relations sense. It's ridiculous."

Fitzwilliams also noted that the Sussexes are known for diverting attention away from royal events. "The Sussexes have never cared about royal protocol. Meghan would not have been advised to do this by any of her public relations consultants. This is something of a joke. If she sent the jam to a friend, she should have asked him not to post it," he said.

The royal commentator emphasised the insensitivity of the timing, given King Charles' health battles and the significance of Trooping the Colour. "The official birthday of Harry's father, who is battling cancer, and the fact that Catherine was able to watch the parade from the office in Horse Guards while undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer, make the Sussexes' actions incomprehensible. They should just have been quiet," he concluded.
