LAHORE:

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge has directed the police to submit the challan for former PTI federal minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in connection with one of the cases arising from the May 9 riots following the arrest of PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan.

In a written order, the ATC judge denied the Investigation Officer’s (IO) request for further physical remand of Qureshi.

The IO had previously been granted 19 days of physical remand to recover Qureshi’s mobile phone but failed to do so.

The judge emphasised that further physical remand could not be justified without substantial progress in the investigation.

Despite being granted a 19-day physical remand initially, the IO was unable to recover the mobile phone. The IO subsequently requested an additional 30 days of physical remand to continue the search, but this request was also denied by the ATC judge.
