Despite persistent rumours regarding the future of "The Batman Part II," DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has reassured fans that the highly anticipated sequel remains on track for release.
Concerns arose following recent delays and casting speculations, but Gunn addressed these fears directly via Instagram.
In response to a fan comment on his Instagram post from the Superman set, Gunn dismissed the rumours about the cancelation of "The Batman Part II" and the associated Matt Reeves' Bat-Verse trilogy. He stated, "Of course not," accompanied by a rolling eyes emoji, emphasising the baseless nature of the cancellation fears.
Robert Pattinson will return as The Dark Knight, with Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon. Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, and Paul Dano are also expected to return, while Barry Keoghan’s Joker might have a more significant role. Gunn dismissed reports of Boyd Holbrook as Harvey Dent as "fake."
Warner Bros. announced "The Batman Part II" at CinemaCon 2022. Although Gunn and Peter Safran lead the new DC Universe, "The Batman" films are separate projects under the DC Elseworlds banner.
The original film was a hit, earning $772 million and receiving three Academy Award nominations. It also inspired the Max spinoff series "The Penguin," starring Colin Farrell, set for release in September.
