Two dedicated doctors, Dr. Amiirah Aujnarain and Dr. Milad Midabber, found a unique way to balance their demanding medical careers with their love for each other. Faced with packed schedules leading up to their planned wedding reception, they opted for a simple and efficient legal ceremony at Toronto City Hall during their lunch break on April 23rd.
The decision to prioritise their careers while celebrating their love was documented in a TikTok video that quickly went viral. Dr. Aujnarain, an immunologist and allergist, and Dr. Midabber, an ophthalmologist, wore their signature Figs scrubs for the occasion, symbolising their shared passion for medicine.

"We both have worn Figs scrubs for the last two years — which is why we wore them for our wedding," Dr. Aujnarain told PEOPLE exclusively. "We enjoy that part of our lives, just as much as we love to travel, go on global health missions and try out cuisines from all over the world."
Adding a touch of bridal flair, Dr. Aujnarain wore off-white scrubs and a veil, while Dr. Midabber surprised her with a bouquet of her favourite flowers. The ceremony itself was brief and practical, focused on signing the necessary legal documents.
Afterward, the couple enjoyed a Korean BBQ lunch together, celebrating their unique love story and looking forward to their upcoming wedding reception on May 24th, which will be attended by 200 loved ones and showcase a fusion of their Indian and Persian cultures.
Despite some negative comments online, Dr. Aujnarain stands by their decision, emphasising their mutual love of medicine and their desire to celebrate their unique personalities and shared values.
"Milad and I bonded over our love of medicine, and a mutual understanding and appreciation of how much we value a career dedicated to service to others," she told PEOPLE. "We also enjoy being unique and quirky and thinking outside the box."
