Gracie Abrams has fulfilled the wishes of her fans.
After teasing the song ‘Close to You’ at the age of 16, the 24-year-old singer finally released it on Friday, June 7.
In an Instagram post announcing the release date, Abrams expressed gratitude to her fans for their continued support, mentioning that although she wrote the song many years ago they “cared about it enough for us to revisit the song seven years later.”
Following the release, Abrams took to her Instagram Stories to share her excitement, writing "hiiiii Close To Youuuuuu hi after seven years hellooooooo :)."
Fans rejoiced at the long-awaited release, with many expressing their joy in the comments section of the song's video on YouTube. Some remarked on their loyalty, having known and anticipated the song for years.
The track first captured fans' hearts when Abrams shared a piano rendition on her Instagram in 2017, and later when she posted a demo snippet in 2018.
After previously opening for Taylor Swift during the spring and summer of 2023, Gracie Abrams will once again join Swift for another North American leg of the "Eras Tour" in October.
In May, Gracie Abrams generated more buzz when the tracklist for her upcoming album "The Secret of Us," scheduled for release on June 21, revealed an anticipated collaboration with Taylor Swift on the fifth track titled "us."
