Pro-government militant commander killed in rocket attack

A video of the operatives of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been making the rounds on social media platforms in which terrorists can be seen checking the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) of passengers by the roadside.

Apparently, they had established a checkpoint along the main road in the Karak district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and started checking the identities of passengers in order to distinguish between government servants and civilians.

The video had apparently been made by the TTP operatives themselves and then shared on social media for the consumption of the general public but it had also caused widespread panic.

According to the local police, the incident had taken place two months ago but, according to local residents, it had occurred on May 14.

The incident had taken place in the jurisdiction of the Latambar police station in Kirk.

It may be mentioned here that such a situation had earlier been witnessed in South Waziristan, constituting further evidence that militants have established a firm foothold in the area despite tall claims on the part of law enforcement agencies.

Separately, in Miranshah, North Waziristan, a rocket attack on a vehicle has left three, including pro-government militant commander Gulap Hassan Khel and two of his companions, dead.

According to police, unidentified terrorists had targeted a vehicle with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) in the Hyder Khel area of Mir Ali tehsil in North Waziristan, resulting in a fire that had engulfed the vehicle.

Police said three people had been in the vehicle, two of whom had been killed in the fire, while the third had been abducted by the attackers and later found dead near Mullagan village.
