Pat Sajak, the longtime host of "Wheel of Fortune," recently opened up about his retirement plans and expressed a personal wish involving his daughter Maggie. In an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Sajak, who announced his departure from the game show last year, revealed that he is looking forward to becoming a grandfather.

The 77-year-old host has two adult children with his wife, Lesly Brown: son Patrick, 33, and daughter Maggie, 29. Despite their age, the couple has yet to welcome any grandchildren. "I'm perfectly happy if it just means that I'll continue with my crossword puzzles and play with grandchildren... hint hint hint. No pressure," Sajak said, indicating his hopes for the future. Maggie, who works as the social correspondent for "Wheel of Fortune," responded with a laugh and quickly moved the conversation along.

Reflecting on his decision to retire, Sajak said, "I'd rather leave a couple of years too early, than a couple of years too late." He emphasized the importance of not overstaying his welcome on television and shared his excitement for what lies ahead. "There's also some other things in life that we'd like to do, and I'm enjoying this last year. It's been a great 40 years," he added.

During the interview, Maggie fought back tears as she expressed her gratitude for her father's contributions to the show. "The show means the world to us; it's been such a gift. And you have made what could have just been hangman into a cultural phenomenon. So thank you for this amazing 40+ years," she said. Sajak responded with, "Thank you, sweetheart," and the two shared a heartfelt embrace.

Sajak's final pre-filmed episode will air on Friday, June 7, marking the end of Season 41 with a series of tributes titled “Thanks for the Memories.” Ryan Seacrest is set to take over as the show's host beginning in Season 42.
