Adele's fervent defence of Pride Month during a Las Vegas concert on June 1st went viral, but the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding. While the singer thought an audience member had shouted "Pride sucks!", other concertgoers' videos suggest the comment was actually "Work sucks!", in response to Adele discussing her busy schedule.

In the lead-up to the misunderstanding, Adele was explaining that her work week starts on Friday. A fan then interjected with what sounded like "Work sucks!" However, Adele seemingly misheard the comment and responded with a passionate defence of Pride Month, which had just begun.

Despite the mix-up, Adele's response was met with widespread support from LGBTQ+ activists and celebrities. The Human Rights Campaign praised her for standing up to hate, while actor John Leguizamo tweeted his encouragement. Many social media users also lauded Adele as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

This incident is not the first time Adele has shown her support for LGBTQ+ rights. In the past, she has worn Pride flag attire during concerts and waved Pride flags onstage.

While Adele's intentions were good, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of clear communication and avoiding jumping to conclusions. Despite the initial misunderstanding, the singer's unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community remains clear.
