In just four days, the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, will marry Olivia Henson in what is being dubbed the society wedding of the year.
The 33-year-old groom, one of the wealthiest individuals in the UK with an estimated £10 billion inheritance, has generated significant buzz around the nuptials.
According to the Mirror, the wedding is set to host 400 guests and will feature several prominent figures, including members of the British royal family. Hugh Grosvenor, known as "Hughie," has longstanding ties to the royals. King Charles is his godfather, and Hughie is a godfather to both Prince George and Prince Harry's son, Archie.
Amid Prince Harry's ongoing strained relations with the royal family, there has been considerable speculation about his attendance. His brother, Prince William, is rumored to serve as an usher, underscoring the wedding's high-profile nature.
However, the attendance of other royal figures remains uncertain. While Prince William is expected to be present, Princess Kate is likely to miss the event due to her cancer diagnosis, and their children are also expected to be absent since the wedding falls on a school day.
King Charles and Queen Camilla's presence is doubtful as well, as they will be in northern France the day before for D-Day commemorations, and Charles has reduced his public appearances following his own cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also unlikely to attend.
According to The Sunday Times, Hugh decided against inviting the Sussexes to prevent their ongoing feud from overshadowing the wedding. A source explained, "Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry's who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both. He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realizes it's unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn't want any awkwardness."
