Sophia Bush celebrated her first Pride Month with her new girlfriend, Ashlyn Harris. On Sunday, the "One Tree Hill" alum reposted a heartfelt message on her Instagram Story that read, “Pride is important because someone tonight still believes they’re better off dead than being themselves.”
Bush added her own sentiments, writing, “You are perfect. No matter how long it might take, you’ll find your people. And they will help you find more and more of yourself. It’s worth it. You’re worth it.” She also shared a makeup-free photo of herself wearing a rainbow-colored robe, captioned with a Pride flag emoji.
The actress came out as queer in April, six months after her relationship with Harris was confirmed by Page Six in October 2023. At the time, Bush explained that she "didn't expect to find love" with the former soccer star while going through her divorce from ex-husband Grant Hughes, whom she was married to for a year. “I don’t know how else to say it other than: I didn’t see it until I saw it,”
Bush wrote in a Glamour magazine essay. “And I think it’s very easy not to see something that’s been in front of your face for a long time when you’d never looked at it as an option and you had never been looked at as an option.”
Bush and Harris initially met in 2019 and reportedly "bonded over their breakups" while attending the Cannes Lions Festival in France last summer.
An insider told Us Weekly that the pair had “instant chemistry.” Harris, who was previously married to Ali Krieger, publicly supported Bush earlier this year after she came out, sharing a snap from Bush's Glamour profile on Instagram with the caption, “Proud of you babe.”
Recently, Bush shut down engagement rumors following the couple's PDA-packed getaway to Paris.
