RAWALPINDI:

An Additional District and Sessions Court on Wednesday approved interim bail for Minhal Suleman, a female driver accused of speeding on the Kallar Kahar motorway and misbehaving with motorway police officers.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Khalid Mahmood Cheema presided over the case.

The Kallar Kahar police have been ordered not to arrest or harass the accused until the next hearing. The court granted interim bail until June 5 and instructed the accused to submit a surety bond worth Rs50,000.

The Kallar Kahar police registered a case based on a complaint from a motorway police inspector. The complaint alleges that Suleman was driving at high speed and, when stopped, parked her car in a zigzag manner. Upon being instructed to move her car to the side, she allegedly began abusing the officers, made threats, refused to accept the challan, and then drove away.

After the registration of the FIR, the police sought the CCTV footage which surfaced on social media showing some women occupants of a car abusing motorway police officials who stopped them for speeding.

The woman could be heard in the video alleging that the police officials had attempted to snatch their mobile phone and demanded gratification.
