Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney are celebrating a successful third open-heart surgery for their 7-year-old son, Billy. The late-night host shared the heartwarming news on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of a smiling Billy in his hospital bed.
Kimmel expressed immense gratitude to the "miracle workers" at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, particularly surgeon Vaughn Starnes, cardiologist Tim Casarez, and the dedicated nurses and staff. He described the experience of meeting families facing similar challenges as "humbling," emphasising the importance of supporting children's hospitals.
In his heartfelt message, Kimmel thanked family, friends, and well-wishers for their overwhelming support and prayers. He also recognized the strength and resilience of his wife, Molly, throughout Billy's health journey.
Kimmel has been open about Billy's heart condition since his birth in 2017, sharing updates and raising awareness about congenital heart defects. Billy was born with tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia, requiring multiple surgeries to correct the defects.
In 2019, Kimmel assured fans that Billy was doing great and behaving like any other child, even embracing his inner Spider-Man.
The Kimmel family's story serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges, emphasising the power of love, support, and expert medical care in overcoming adversity.
