Comedy lovers can circle Eidul Azha on their calendars for something to look forward to in addition to the festivities of a busy day. Screenwriter and director Nabeel Qureshi, who has made a name for himself crafting light-hearted yet thought-provoking films such as Actor in Law and Load Wedding, took to his Instagram handle to announce the release of a brand new film this Eidul Azha: Na Baligh Afraad

“From the makers of Na Maloom Afraad, Na Baligh Afraad,” boasts Nabeel’s announcement, featuring an old VHS tape bearing the title of the upcoming film. Nabeel kept any plot details tightly under wraps. However, following his announcement, the cast involved took to sharing the same image on their own Instagram handles, bursting to share the news with their fans and followers.

Actors Samar Jafri, Aashir Wajahat, and Rimha Ahmad all shared the same VHS poster on their Instagram, with Rimha captioning, “Super excited to be able to share this news with all of you! Na Baligh Afraad. Releasing this Eid-ul-Azha!!” followed by a party emoji. The comments section wherever the poster was shared consisted of words of encouragement and excitement, with fans across the board expressing sentiments such as “Can’t wait!” and “So excited for this!”

Nearly ten years ago, in October 2014, Nabeel made his directorial debut with Na Maloom Afraad, an action-comedy comprising a script that was years in the making. Shot in Karachi, the film was one of the few to be developed entirely in Pakistan. Na Maloom Afraad starred Javed Sheikh, Fahad Mustafa, Mohsin Abbas Haider, and boasted a supporting cast featuring Urwa Hocane, Kubra Khan, and Salman Shahid. The film followed the hijinks of Shakeel (played by Javed), Farhaan (Fahad) and Moon (Mohsin) who crave incredible riches and predictably land in mounting trouble as they battle their way through any means to get their hearts’ desires, to comic effect.

Three years after the release of Na Maloom Afraad came the sequel, Na Maloom Afraad 2, bringing back some of the original cast, but moving the story to South Africa. Now, with Na Baligh Afraad on the horizon, the cast appears to be boasting fresh new faces. It is now a waiting game to see whether the new instalment will live up to the comedy that was a staple of Na Maloom Afraad and Na Maloom Afraad 2.
