Eminem has unveiled that the first single from his upcoming album, "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)," will be titled "Houdini" and will be released this Friday. The rapper made the announcement through an Instagram post, featuring a FaceTime call with magician David Blaine.
In the video, Eminem playfully asks Blaine for help with "something" related to magic. After Blaine performs a trick by biting off the rim of a wine glass, Eminem declares, "For my last trick, I'm going to make my career disappear," hinting at the end of his infamous alter ego, Slim Shady. The Instagram clip concludes with a snippet of what appears to be the instrumental for "Houdini."
Details about Eminem's 12th studio album remain scarce, though he has previously mentioned a summer release. "Houdini" will mark the first official offering from the project.
Earlier this year, Eminem's long-time collaborator Dr. Dre revealed during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" that Eminem was working on a new album. Dre also mentioned his contribution to several songs on the project.
Eminem officially announced "The Death of Slim Shady" in April with a Detroit Murder Files-themed teaser during the NFL Draft. He further fueled anticipation by placing a fake obituary in the Detroit Free Press to bid farewell to Slim Shady.
