The management of Ayub Medical Teaching Institution with alleged connivance of a former BoG chairman sabotaged the official meeting of the board scheduled to be held on Monday.
The meeting was convened by three board members, including senior lawyer Asad Khan Jadoon, who sent a letter to the BoG secretary, containing a nine-point agenda, having issues of an urgent nature, including alleged unlawful purchases of medicines and other items worth Rs930 million.
According to sources, the scheduled meeting was forcibly halted by the AMTI Security In-charge who locked the AMTI BoG office and refused the secretary entry into the office. BoG Secretary Hamid Khan, in his complaint letter to the Board, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, stated that he was asked by the hospital’s security officer not to enter in the office as directed by the hospital director.
When contacted, the hospital’s Security In-charge Major (retd) Zukfiqar confirmed that he followed the orders of the hospital director to lock the BoG office. He further stated that he was bound to obey the orders of the hospital director.
Meanwhile, former BoG chairman Mushtaq Jadoon justified the delay in the proposed emergent meeting of the AMTI board. He, however, failed to reply when his attention was invited that notification of his resignation had already been made.
A day earlier, the BoG secretary, in his message circulated to all the concerned, had stated that three board members submitted a requisition for the special meeting to be held at 2pm at the AMC Conference Hall on Monday.
