Paul Feig, director of "A Simple Favor 2," recently shared that the sequel almost didn't happen. The first film's unexpected success on Netflix, where it currently holds the No. 1 spot, came as a welcome surprise during the sequel's production in Italy.

Feig expressed his excitement about the newfound popularity, stating, "I'm thrilled. It makes me so happy because this really is one of my favourite movies. It's done well in the theatres, but I always feel so many people haven't seen it yet so now they do get to see it."

The success has also heightened expectations for the sequel, which has been in development for nearly three years. Feig admitted the pressure, acknowledging this is his first sequel and his desire to stay true to the original film's essence.

He revealed that the team scrapped the initial script, recognizing it wouldn't fully satisfy fans. "We were like, 'As much as we like what we have here, we don't think this is what the people who really loved the first movie are going to 100 percent want.'"

The sequel brings back original stars Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick, and Henry Golding, alongside new additions like Alex Newell and Allison Janney. While Feig remained tight-lipped about a potential musical number, despite Newell and Kendrick's vocal talents, he did share that the first film's musical number was poorly received in test screenings.

Fans can anticipate the "A Simple Favor" sequel, while Feig's latest project, "Jackpot," starring John Cena and Awkwafina, is set for a summer release.
