Prince Harry's recent statement on travel could prompt new backlash in light of past scrutiny over his flying practices.

Harry recently returned to the United States after traveling to the UK and embarking on a three-day tour of Nigeria with his wife Meghan Markle.

Describing the trip as successful, he acknowledged the significance of continued travel for them, stating it's "hugely important" to engage directly with people to support causes and drive positive change.

The Duke told People Magazine, "it is hugely important for us to meet directly with people, supporting our causes and listening, in order to bring about solutions, support and positive change."

Prince Harry continued, "there’s only so much one can do from home and over Zoom, so we look forward to traveling more because the work matters. Whether it's the Archewell Foundation, Invictus or any of our other causes, there will always be reasons to meet the people at the heart of our work."

However, his comments have reignited public scrutiny, particularly regarding his previous remarks on reducing air travel.

In December 2022, he drew attention for urging reduced flying through Travalyst, a project aimed at sustainability.

According to the Mirror, critics highlighted perceived hypocrisy as Harry and Meghan were observed using private jets for various engagements.

In response, Harry defended his occasional use of private jets, citing safety concerns for his family, and asserted efforts to offset carbon emissions, the Mirror reported.
