Disney Channel's upcoming sequel series to "Wizards of Waverly Place" has officially been titled "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place."
Selena Gomez, who starred as Alex Russo in the original series and executive produces the spinoff, unveiled the news during Disney's 2024 upfront presentation.
The presentation also offered a first glimpse into the grown-up lives of Alex and her brother Justin (David Henrie), along with the introduction of new Russo family members: Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), Roman (Alkaio Thiele), and Milo (Max Matenko).
The series will follow an adult Justin Russo, who has embraced a normal life with his family until his sister Alex arrives with Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), a wizard-in-training needing his guidance.
Justin must then balance his responsibilities as a mentor with his everyday life while protecting the Wizard World.
Newcomer Taylor Cora joins the cast as Winter, Billie's best friend, described as "bubbly, quirky, and oversharing." Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas are the writers and executive producers, alongside Gomez, Henrie, and Gary Marsh. Andy Fickman directed and executive produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.
The series is set to premiere later this year.
During the upfront, Gomez also shared a teaser for Season 4 of Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building," in which she stars with Steve Martin and Martin Short. Fans of both shows have much to look forward to as Gomez continues to enchant audiences on screen.
