Milly Alcock is set to play Supergirl in the upcoming DC Universe reboot movie, "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow."
The film is scheduled to debut on June 26, 2026, in IMAX, making it the second feature in the rebooted universe following James Gunn's "Superman."
The movie is directed by "Cruella’s" Craig Gillespie and written by "The Vampire Diaries’" Ana Nogueira.
Based on a 2022 comic book series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the film follows Supergirl's journey through space with her loyal dog, Krypto the Superdog. She seeks to escape a life always overshadowed by her cousin, Superman, back on Earth.
She meets an alien girl named Ruthye, who seeks revenge for her father's death and enlists Supergirl's assistance.
When Gunn and co-chief Peter Safran initially announced the "Supergirl" project in January 2023, they described the character as "much more hardcore" compared to previous versions.
This Kara has been toughened by years of experience, having witnessed the destruction of her home planet before arriving on Earth.
“She’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing,” Gunn remarked.
