In an appearance on Show Time With Ramiz Raja, actors Sherry Shah and Shamoon Abbasi got candid about their marriage in a lighthearted discussion with renowned former cricketer and his co-host Hina Niazi. During their sit down with Ramiz and Hina, when asked about what dialogue Shamoon used to convince her that he was the right man, Sherry replied with, “I’ll tell you the truth, I proposed to him.”
Her confession was met with cheers from the audience. Shamoon also revealed that he had been unlucky with love in the past, until he met Sherry. “I’m lucky to have her, I always wanted to get married. For me, it was important to settle down with someone and to have a family. I never wanted to be part of that girlfriend and boyfriend culture. I tried, tried and tried and I failed multiple times in my trials, eventually, I found her and we were already very good friends,” said Shamoon.
He also highlighted how important it was that they were friends first, stating, “I wanted someone who could understand my problems as a friend and not as a wife.” Known for playing antagonistic characters, the Waar actor was asked what his wife’s reaction is to him always being offered villainous roles. Much to the audience’s amusement, she quipped in with, “My reaction was to marry him.”
The two actors secretly tied the knot after their long-term friendship. Sherry announced their marriage in April last year through a loved-up Facebook post. The Yeh Zindagi Hai actor wrote “I appreciate so many things about you — your strength, your calmness, your character and integrity, your sense of humour, your way of seeing the beauty in the world and how fun you are to be with and how beautiful my life has become because of you.” She thanked Shamoon for being the best thing in her life, saying “every hardship is a walk in the park when you are around. I feel so blessed to have you as my life partner. Thanks for existing…Happy birthday hubs.”
Before they confirmed their marriage, the two were photographed together and sparked rumours due to their undeniable chemistry in viral posts. This is Sherry’s second marriage and Shamoon’s fourth. The couple starred together in the 2019 mystery-thriller, Durj which was written and directed by Shamoon himself. The film was based on true events, with a large part of it inspired by actual cases of cannibalism in the country. While the film didn’t perform too well at the box office, it may have been successful in bringing these two actors together
