FM to co-chair strategic dialogue with Chinese counterpart

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday expressed Pakistan's strong commitment to advancing Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s security and development cooperation agenda.

Talking to the secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the SCO Charter and the organization's fundamental ideals as enunciated in the 'Shanghai Spirit.'

Recognizing the immense potential of the SCO region, Dar emphasized the collective responsibility of SCO member states to collaborate effectively and harness the collective potential for sustained progress and prosperity of the entire SCO region.

The discussion also touched on Pakistan's initiatives and contributions in its ongoing chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived on a four-day visit mainly to co-chair the fifth Pakistan-China foreign ministers’ strategic dialogue with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
On his arrival, he was received by Director General, Ambassador Wang Fu Kang and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi.

In the Strategic Dialogue, the two sides will comprehensively review bilateral relations including economic and trade cooperation; high-level exchanges and visits; upgradation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, future connectivity initiatives and the geopolitical situation.
