QUETTA:

Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi, Advisor to Balochistan Chief Minister for Women Development, underscored the pivotal role of nurses in the healthcare sector. Emphasizing the myriad challenges faced by nursing staff, she called for comprehensive measures to address these issues.

In her message on International Nurses Day, Dr Buledi paid homage to Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, the pioneering figure in establishing the nursing profession in Pakistan.

While acknowledging a commendable 70% increase in the number of nurses in the country over the past decade, she highlighted that this figure still falls short of global health standards. With a ratio of five nurses per 10,000 population in Pakistan, the current numbers remain inadequate.

Drawing attention to the particularly low number of nurses in Balochistan compared to established medical norms, Dr Buledi revealed Chief Minister Bugti’s decision to establish standard nursing institutions to rectify this shortage.

The provincial government is resolute in its commitment to establishing internationally recognized nursing institutions in Balochistan. Dr Buledi outlined special measures underway to address the dearth of nurses in Balochistan.
