RAWALPINDI:

A labourer, employed in the Karot Hydropower Project at the Holar Bridge located in the Kahuta area of Rawalpindi, lost his life in a tragic accident on Tuesday.

According to reports, the worker fell to his death while carrying out the cabling work at the bridge.

Meanwhile, surveillance footage of the incident also surfaced, according to which the work of laying electric cables for the Karot Hydropower Project at the Holar Bridge was in progress when the tragic incident occurred.

In the video, it can be seen that several vehicles are parked along the roadside and labourers are working on the bridge. Several workers are seen gathered on the bridge and engaged in pulling the electric cables.

The footage captures the moment when some of the workers lose their grip on the cable and the weight falls on a worker named Saqib Saeed. As he struggles to remain standing, he can be observed bouncing along the cable and eventually plummeting into the depths. The footage showed that the accident was caused by safety negligence.

Upon receiving the information, law enforcement personnel gathered the evidence and got the autopsy of the deceased carried out.

SHO Inspector Aziz Aslam stated that the incident seemed to be accidental and the deceased worker’s brother was also present at the scene, working alongside other labourers. However, further investigation was under way.

Earlier, Kahuta DSP Tahir Sikandar also visited the site of the incident to review the situation and events.
