LAHORE:

Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khwaja Imran Nazir has announced the initiation of the ‘Health Facility at Doorstep’ programme to enable ultrasound test results and drugs for hepatitis, diabetes and other diseases to be delivered to homes of the patients.

A mechanism for delivery of insulin and other drugs has been devised under the initiative.

The minister highlighted details of the programme while presiding over a meeting on the availability of diabetes medicines.

Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan and other officials were also present.

Imran Nazir said, “International companies will be urged for the production and manufacturing of world-class insulin in Punjab. A technical committee is being formed in this regard.”

The minister sought the record of diabetes and screening of hepatitis patients from the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Programme with the hope of devising an effective mechanism for controlling diseases.

He said, “Without the complete data of diabetes and hepatitis patients, this programme cannot be successful.” He added that the chief minister has taken special interest in bringing medical facilities to the people's doorsteps. “Through clinics on wheels, basic health facilities will be provided in slum areas of cities and rural communities,” concluded the minister.
