A former Disney cast member, Sophia Dottir, has stirred controversy by claiming she was terminated from her role under accusations of breaching character integrity via her social media activity. According to Dottir, who shared her experience in a detailed YouTube video, the issue arose from posts that suggested she portrayed Snow White at Disney's Orlando Resort.
Dottir, a participant in the Disney College Program, explained that she was initially placed under investigation after Disney officials discovered her Instagram videos where she appeared as Snow White, engaging with park guests. She alleged that she was escorted off the property and stripped of her company ID during the inquiry.
Despite her attempts to downplay the implications of her posts by humorously denying she was the real Snow White, Dottir claimed she was ultimately dismissed from her role. She expressed confusion and frustration over the decision, noting that other cast members had posted similar content without facing termination. Dottir also mentioned that her termination came shortly after a misunderstanding fueled by a fan site rumour suggesting Snow White’s character would be indefinitely suspended from the park, which Disney has not confirmed.
Disney has not yet responded to inquiries for comments on the matter.
The incident highlights Disney's strict policies on maintaining the anonymity of its park characters, where cast members are traditionally encouraged to describe themselves as "friends of" the characters they portray, rather than claiming to be the characters themselves.
