Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, beloved for their roles in "Dead Poets Society," are making headlines again with a surprise appearance in Taylor Swift's music video for "Fortnight." The song is the lead single from her album "The Tortured Poets Society."
On Friday, April 19, both actors took to Instagram to express their excitement and honour over the collaboration. Hawke quipped, “Todd” & “Knox” from DEAD POETS SOCIETY are now PhDs in THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. It’s quite an honour." He thanked Swift for the opportunity and included the iconic "Carpe Diem!"
Charles shared his admiration for Swift, calling her "genuine, kind, approachable," and a talented director.
The music video dropped alongside the album and features Hawke and Charles as scientists working in a lab. Swift, referencing classic imagery reminiscent of Frankenstein, is hooked to a table. The actors' cameo follows a scene with Swift and Post Malone, who also features on the track and later plays a fellow scientist who helps free her.
Swift took to Instagram to pay homage to her collaborators. She expressed that the video embodies the spirit of her record and praised Post Malone's performance. Addressing Hawke and Charles, she jokingly welcomed the "tortured poets" to the fold, referencing their "Dead Poets Society" characters.
