Jimmy Kimmel claps back at Trump’s criticism during Late Night monologue

Kimmel humorously tackled the accusations and poked fun at Trump's misidentification of him as Al Pacino.

With his trademark humour, Jimmy Kimmel has tackled recent pointed criticism from former President Donald Trump .

Kimmel, during his Wednesday night monologue on ABC, jokingly recounted his eventful morning as "tumultuous" following Trump's social media post, affectionately labeling him as "our Kentucky fried former president."

The former president, who was on a break day from the ongoing criminal trial against him in New York, chose to target Kimmel via his own Truth Social platform. 
 

 

“Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from TDS, commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, to the entire World by reading on air my TRUTH about how bad a job he was doing that night,” Trump wrote, later adding, “Supposedly his wife, and even management, begged him not to do it, ‘DON’T READ HIS TRUTH, JIMMY, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS,’ they said.”

“He was made to look like a FOOL, which he is, and at the same time go down in Television History as the WORST HOST EVER OF THE ONCE VAUNTED ACADEMY AWARDS!” Trump continued.

Kimmel expressed surprise that Trump correctly spelled "vaunted" but critiqued the rest of the post for being factually inaccurate and concerning. 

He proceeded to methodically fact-check each line of Trump's criticisms, pointing out errors and inconsistencies, such as the incorrect claim about the Oscars ratings, which had actually increased.

The late-night host also made light of Trump's mistake in confusing him with Al Pacino, quipping about Trump's alleged familiarity with Pacinos’ Scarface phrase "Say hello to my little friend" in a different context involving Stormy Daniels. 

Despite Trump's harsh criticism of him as the "WORST" Oscar host, Kimmel revealed he was invited to host againmin 2025 and joked about Trump watching the next broadcast from Rikers Island.

Kimmel concluded his segment by playing a clip from the joke he made at the Oscars that seemed to have irked Trump, mentioning how honoured he felt to be the subject of the former president's rant.

On CBS, Stephen Colbert, host of the Late Show, also commented on the situation, defending Kimmel and advising Trump to refrain from speaking ill of his colleague in the industry.
