Game of Thrones actor Joseph Gatt sues LA for $40m over “false” pedophile claims

The actor claims that his arrest in 2022 was based on “fake” screenshots of conversations with a minor

Joseph Gatt, known for his role as Thenn Warg in Game of Thrones’ fourth season, has charged the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department, and L.A. District Attorney George Gascon among others with a $40 million lawsuit, based on dropped pedophile charges that led to his arrest in 2022.

In a lawsuit obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Joseph Gatt alleges that the defendants "publicly labeled him as a serial pedophile," which led him to face defamation.

Gatt added that Deputy District Attorney Angela Brunson harbored "personal bias and animosity" towards him.

According to a statement provided to EW, "The arrest and charges against Mr. Gatt — for which he was branded by the Los Angeles DA and LAPD as a serial pedophile — were based on fabricated evidence."

Gatt's arrest in 2022 stemmed from accusations of engaging in sexually explicit online communication with a minor from another state. The suit states that the alleged interaction resulted from a Cameo Gatt recorded for a 16-year-old fan's birthday.

Despite subsequent Instagram contact from the fan, who resided in Washington state, Gatt's responses were described as "wholly appropriate and consistent with typical celebrity-fan exchanges."

The lawsuit asserts that Gatt never met the teen fan and that the defendants neglected to thoroughly assess credibility until nearly a year after the arrest.

"Twenty months later, when the fabricated evidence was finally disclosed to Mr. Gatt and Mr. Gatt’s forensic expert were prepared to expose the truth in open court, the Los Angeles DA voluntarily dismissed the criminal complaint," the statement revealed.

"Mr. Gatt, however, had already lost his community, his acting career, and his personal reputation. We look forward to recovering Mr. Gatt’s enormous losses in court."
