Motorist thwarts robbery attempt, injures mugger

KARACHI:

A motorist thwarted a robbery attempt in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, critically injuring one of the armed muggers.

As per details, motorcycle-riding muggers held up a motorist at gunpoint in the Pehelwan Goth area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and asked him to hand over his mobile phone. Undeterred, the motorist opened fire on the robbers with his licensed handgun, injuring one of them critically. The other assailant fled the scene.

Police and rescuers reached the scene after receiving information about the incident. The injured mugger, identified as Siraj, was shifted to JPMC, where he remains in critical condition. Investigations are underway to find out Siraj's residential and criminal history using the identification card found in his possession.

The stolen mobile phone belonging to motorist Sameer was recovered from the robber, along with the weapons used in the attempted robbery. Sameer, a resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, had been waiting in his car for his son, who was inside a nearby shop at the time of the incident. When the robbers attempted to flee after the theft, Sameer took decisive action and opened fire.

Further investigation is ongoing.
