What dreams are made of: Avid comics fan Usman finds ‘Umro Ayyar’ exhibit at WonderCon ‘surreal’

Film is set to have a trailer launch at the event on March 31 in Anaheim, California

Pakistani actor Usman Mukhtar, known for his versatile performances, recently took to Instagram to express his heartfelt excitement as the highly anticipated trailer of Umro Ayyar – A New Beginning gears up to captivate audiences at WonderCon, an esteemed event hosted by Comic-Con International on March 31 in Anaheim, California.

The actor shared a collage of pictures from past comic con events, reflecting on his lifelong passion for comics and conventions. In the caption, he reminisced, "If you know me, I’ve grown up reading comic books, going to comic cons, attending panels, and geeking out. I remember the first big investment I made was buying the Action Comics #1 1988 reprint.”

He furthered on, “I’ve geeked out on comics for as long as I can remember, and today it feels surreal to have our film Umro Ayyar presented at WonderCon. I could never have imagined that something I’m a part of would make it to a convention like this. This is what dreams are made of."

On Monday, Usman shared the announcement of the film’s trailer launch at the Comic Con event, alongside a poster. Umro Ayyar – A New Beginning marks the cinematic debut of the iconic character Umro Ayyar from the treasured tales of Dastan-e-Amir Hamza. 

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring luminaries such as Usman, Sanam Saeed, Faran Tahir, Ali Kazmi, Adnan Siddiqui, Simi Raheal, Sana Fakhar, Manzar Sehbai, Daniyal Raheal, Salmaan Shaukat, Osama Karamat, Uloomi Karim, Asad Chaudhary, Atif Rehan Siddique, Muhammad Imran, Bilal Jutt, Ruman Ali, and Shehroz Sanaullah.

Dastan-e-Amir Hamza is a collection of Urdu stories written by Ghalib Lakhnavi in 1855, showcasing elements of magic, adventure, and intrigue. Thus, the offering promises to transport audiences into a universe where these elements converge. The trailer launch at WonderCon signifies a momentous occasion for Pakistani cinema, as the beloved character of Umro Ayyar embarks on a new chapter on the silver screen.
