Veteran Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan denied reports that he has recently undergone an angioplasty in a video of the actor that emerged on social media as he exited from Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane following the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) final, reported Hindustan Times.
On Friday, reports by Indian Express, ABP Live and Filmfare had circulated regarding Bachchan being treated for a clot or blocked artery in his leg. However, in the brief clip lasting just a few seconds, Bachchan held up his hands to show everything was fine and in response to a query about his health, replied, “Fake news” with a wry smile as he walked away.
Bachchan, along with his son Abishek Bachchan, had been a spectator at the match to support his team Majhi Mumbai in the inaugural ISPL. Bachchan’s team lost to rivals Tiigers of Kolkata. However, Bachchan took to his blog to urge his team to not lose heart.
"The FIGHT is more valuable when defeat has been initiated, for when there is no defeat .. victory shall never be highlighted .. you have to win against an opposition, else how does one register a win. So we give the credit to the opposition .. it is their due .. resolve our spirits and prepare for the next fight."
A huge advocate of sportsmanship, the actor had warm words of praise for his son Abishek, who had met with the teams after the match. “The spirit of sportsmanship should never be overshadowed by defeat .. and the grace shown by Abhishek in meeting all the players soon after the game was over was hugely appreciated .. not just our team but congratulated the Kolkata team as well.”
Despite being stuck at the entrance to the stadium for an hour, and despite the loss of his team, Bachchan walked away with happy memories and wrote about meeting cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar at the ISPL final.
“What a joy and an experience to have spent some precious time with the GREAT SACHIN. It is impossible to express what a huge amount of knowledge he has over the game; his predictions on what the bat should do next, the field placement, the bowling and the anticipation of what shall happen next is just incredible. It is not incredible it is magical.”
With such a show of enthusiasm for meeting his cricketing heroes, it is clear that Bachchan continues to enjoy excellent health.
