Pakistani veteran actor and entertainer, Bushra Ansari, has expressed her discontent with the current trend of naming television dramas, suggesting that the thoughtfulness and care once put into naming shows seem to have dwindled in today's era.
In a recent episode on her YouTube channel, Ansari reflected on the significance of well-chosen titles in the past and critiqued the seemingly lacklustre and even derogatory names associated with some recent dramas.
The accomplished artist began her commentary by fondly reminiscing about a bygone era when the naming of dramas was a meticulous process. "In our time, when dramas were going through a good phase, names of dramas used to be quite important. Titles were kept after much thought, based on the story, characters, and the feel of the drama. And it used to have a great impact and connection," Ansari remarked.
However, she expressed concern about the current trend, stating, "The phase that came and is still going on, some dramas have such strange names, sorry to say. I don't know whose production that was." She went on to highlight titles that seemed derogatory towards female characters and those centred around themes of divorce, expressing her disapproval.
"These are strange, shallow names that evoke strange feelings. Anyway, we're talking about such outdated things. Back in the day, giving dramas names was done with immense care. A courtesy was associated with them," Ansari nostalgically added.
The seasoned star commended classic drama titles such as Tanhaiyaan and Dhoop Kinare, acknowledging their simplicity and the rhythmic appeal they carried. She reflected on the meticulous attention given to naming dramas in the past, drawing parallels to the thoughtful naming of films. "These things used to matter a lot," she reminisced.
"Have words finished?" she lamented, expressing her dismay over the apparent decline in the significance of names in contemporary dramas. Ansari's critique sheds light on the evolving landscape of Pakistani television and the importance of thoughtful and resonant titles in creating a lasting impact on the audience.
As an influential figure in the entertainment industry, Ansari's remarks are likely to prompt discussions about the art of naming dramas and the role it plays in shaping the perception and reception of the content. The veteran actor's nostalgic reflection resonates with those who appreciate the craft and detail that once went into the creative aspects of the television industry.
