449,287 applications received for postal ballot

A total of 449,287 applications have been received by returning officers (ROs) for casting votes in the National and Provincial assemblies from across the country.

In this regard, 206,533 applications have been received for National Assembly constituencies and 242,754 applications for the four provincial assemblies. Most applications have been received from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The number of applications received for postal ballots is much lower than that of the officers on duty, means thousands of civil servants are not interested in postal ballots for voting rights. According to details, a total of 51,069 applications for postal ballot were submitted from Sindh.

The number of applications received for postal ballot from Punjab was 147,860. 154,050 applications were received from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while 96,308 applications were received from Balochistan for postal ballot.

Lakhs of police and civil officers will perform election duty in the four provinces, for whom there is no other alternative to cast their vote except by postal ballot.

Apart from this, the votes of thousands of prisoners are separate.

Only 39 postal ballot applications were collected for four National Assembly seats in district east, no one applied for postal ballot in five out of nine provincial seats in this district, while no application for postal ballot was received from any seat in district west.
