The Rawalpindi District Administration has completed fool-proof arrangements to cope with emergencies.
The Department of Civil Defence, under the directives of the deputy commissioner, has procured the latest “hand sirens stand” and sirens of moveable handbag sizes.
The manual hand siren stand is the latest addition, allowing sirens to be sounded in any area by moving them in cars or motorcycles. Meanwhile, the handbag sirens can be easily lifted in hand and sounded anywhere with convenience.

District Officer Civil Defence Talib Hussain confirmed that in the first phase, six hand siren stands have been purchased, each priced at Rs15,000, and their sound quality is excellent. As for the handbag sirens, their sound can be heard up to two to three streets easily. These sirens have been prepared for immediate use in emergencies for any unforeseen need.
He mentioned that these sirens will be used during monsoons to alert the public about the expected floods in Nullah Leh and heavy rainfall. Often, electricity goes off during rain, and in such situations, these hand sirens will serve as the best means to immediately alert the public about flooding.
The supply of these hand sirens has been added to the inventory of the Civil Defence Department of the Rawalpindi District Administration, he said.
