The Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Justice (retd) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, highlighted a significant shortage of approximately 56,000 security personnel for the impending general elections.
He emphasized that this concern has been raised with the federal government. Despite the present financial constraints in the province, with delays in receiving due shares from the federal government, the CM assured that every conceivable effort is being made to bolster the police force.
Acknowledging the rich history of sacrifices made by the K-P police, he expressed pride in the dedication, bravery, and courage exhibited by the police personnel.
Speaking at a Police Darbar during his visit to the police lines in Peshawar, he commended the unmatched and heroic fight of the police against terrorism. He affirmed the unwavering support of the government and the entire nation in the collective effort to eradicate this menace.
Undeterred by cowardly attacks, the CM asserted that the morale of the police force remains resolute, and they stand ready to sacrifice for the nation. He emphasized that maintaining law and order is the top priority of the caretaker provincial government, assuring that all necessary steps will be taken to strengthen the police, with special attention to fulfilling their requirements on a priority basis. Additionally, he pledged to arrange special funds for the treatment of injured police personnel and ensure their overall well-being.
During his visit, the CM paid respects at the monument of police martyrs, offering prayers for their eternal peace. He also visited the Data Analysis Section, where he received a briefing on the section’s functions and related matters.
In response to inquiries about the general elections, he emphasized the finality of decisions made by the courts and the Election Commission. Regardless of their decisions, he assured full support from the provincial government for implementation.
