VU to train school students in IT

Students of PEF schools will receive training in digital literacy, freelancing, social media marketing

The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and the Virtual University of Pakistan have joined hands to offer IT courses to secondary-level students enrolled in PEF schools.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed is this regard by PEF Managing Director Shahid Farid and Virtual University Rector Dr Arshad Bhatti.

Under the guidance of the Virtual University, students of PEF schools will receive training in digital literacy, freelancing and social media marketing. The initiative aims to equip students with skills empowering them to explore opportunities for online earning.

On the occasion, the PEF managing director highlighted the significance of the public-private partnership model in bringing education to underprivileged children. The foundation currently serves over 2.6 million children. Approximately 77,000 teachers have benefited from the organisation’s online training programmes. The MoU also opens up avenues for PEF master trainers to record online lectures on the Virtual University platform.
