Operation against encroachments in Mianwali continued for the third consecutive day.

The MC staff demolished encroachments in Awami Chowk, Kandian Link Road, and confiscated the goods which were being displayed outside the shops.

The shopkeepers were warned that they would have to pay heavy fines if they didn’t desist from using the space outside their shops for displaying their goods.

The anti-encroachment squad of the Municipal Committee, while conducting operations against encroachments in Kachehri Road area, Liaquat Bazaar and Muslim Bazaar on the first two days of the operation, confiscated the goods being displayed on the footpaths of the market, thus making the space free for the pedestrians.

Before leaving the area, the anti-encroachment staff left the shopkeepers with the warning of an even stricter action against them if they continued to violate the law.

Zubair Saeed Awan, a lawyer, while appreciating the actions of Administrator Osama Cheema, stressed the need of consistency in such actions, suggesting that operations against encroachments must be conducted every month.

The removal of encroachments has improved the flow of traffic, having a positive impact on the business activities in the market. Earlier, most of the customers avoided visiting the area lest they got stuck in the traffic jams caused due to the encroachments.

Ahmed Nawaz, a businessman, also called for such operations every month so that the area could be gotten rid of the menace of encroachments once and for all.
