Husband, in-laws booked over woman’s murder

LAHORE:

A woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws, who put a noose around her neck in Kahna area on Wednesday.

The husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law have been charged with murder of the based on a complaint filed by the deceased Noreen’s brother.

According to the FIR, 18-year-old Noreen, a resident of Sahiwal, had been married to Shakeel of Haluki Huzuri Park, Kahina area, for six months.

Shortly after the wedding, Noreen faced torture and conflicts with her in-laws.

The incident leading to her death occurred after a recent quarrel between Noreen and her in-laws over an unspecified issue.

Shakeel, along with other family members, allegedly tortured Noreen and caused her death by strangulation.

Upon receiving the information, the police, forensic teams, and crime scene investigators arrived at the location, gathered evidence, and transferred the body to the hospital for post-mortem examination. Kahina SHO Inspector Afzal Dogar reported that a murder case has been registered against the deceased’s husband, Shakeel Ahmed, along with his father, Iftikhar Ahmed, and mother, Safia Bibi, based on the complaint filed by Muhammad Shakeel, the brother of the deceased.

All three suspects have been arrested. In the initial investigation, Shakeel Ahmed has purportedly confessed to the crime, and further inquiries are ongoing, with additional details expected after the release of the medical report.
