Sindhi handicraft festival concludes

Over 70 artisans from across Sindh are showcasing their craftsmanship in festival

The Sindh Craft Festival organised by the Department of Culture concluded at Port Grand on Sunday.

Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minister of Culture Junaid Ali Shah emphasized that the artists and craftsmen of Sindh are a treasure, and it is essential to boost the morale of these skilled individuals.

Junaid Shah highlighted that the Sindh Craft Festival. provides an opportunity to the artisans to showcase their talents. Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also participated in the closing ceremony of the Sindh Craft Festival.

Junaid and Tessori made rounds of various stalls at the festival and asked artisans to place their goods at the Cultural Department's Archives Complex in Clifton for sale without any fees.

Tessori suggested that similar markets and outlets be established in Arts Councils and other locations across the province.

The organization of a splendid fair in Islamabad by the Sindh government to promote Sindh's culture in Lok Virsa is commendable, he said adding that there is a need to activate the Endowment Committees of the Culture and Sports Departments.

Over 70 artisans from across Sindh are showcasing their craftsmanship in the festival, including Ajrak, Sindhi Topi, Kashi, embroidery, pottery, slippers made from date palm leaves, handloom cotton khaddar, Khes cotton chaddars, Hyderabad bangles, Gaj, Ralli, clay utensils, Mohenjo Darro's patterns, and handmade embroidery.

The handicraft items prepared by Sindh's artists should remain the focus of attention for partners and festival attendees.
