Onion becomes expensive by 80 rupees within a week

Despite the abundant production of seasonal vegetables, the price of vegetables is skyrocketing. Onion scored a double century.

Consumers say that it has become difficult for the low-income group even to eat pulses and vegetables. The export of onions should be banned until there is stability at the local level.

Despite the arrival of Sindh's crop in the market, onion became expensive by 80 rupees within a week. The price of onion has increased by Rs30 in just three days.

Onion is being sold at Rs200 per kg at the retail level. Market sources say that 60 to 70 per cent of the onions brought to the market are being stored in warehouses for exporters causing an artificial shortage.
