Sindhi Language Authority Chairman Prof Dr Ishaq Samejo has said that learning the Sindhi language connects you with the 5,000 years ancient Indus Valley Civilisation.
While speaking at the inauguration of a Sindhi language learning centre on Sharea Faisal on Tuesday, he underscored the cultural and historical significance of learning Sindhi. On the occasion, the authority also launched the Android application "Sindhi Sikhia."
Dr Samejo announced the establishment of Sindhi language learning centres in major cities across the country, including Islamabad, Sukkur, and Hyderabad.
Former provincial education minister Sardar Ali Shah delivered a compelling address, stressing the need for Sindhi language education in private schools. He underlined the crucial requirement for trained teachers and highlighted the pivotal role of imparting Sindhi language skills to the current generation for a seamless transfer to the next.
Shah urged collaborative efforts between the Sindhi Language Authority, the Sindh Education Department, and associated institutions. He called it a collective responsibility to contribute to the protection, preservation, and vibrant use of the Sindhi language.

Renowned educationist Dr Sulaiman Shaikh expressed joy over the “realisation of a long-awaited dream” of establishing the Sindhi Learning Centre in Karachi. He commended the initiative and called attention to the social responsibility of fostering sensitivity towards Sindhi language education and usage.
Intellectual and writer Jami Chandio celebrated the establishment of the Sindhi language learning centre, urging society to cultivate awareness on Sindhi language education and usage.
Culture and Tourism Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari acknowledged the pivotal role played by Dr Samejo in achieving this significant milestone. He emphasised the need for multiple learning centres in Karachi due to its diverse linguistic population.
Mukhtar Malik, a prominent writer and member of the Board of Governors of Sindhi Language Authority, underlined the foundational role of learning Sindhi for the preservation and protection of the language. He suggested online classes to cater to Sindhis abroad, stressing the need for the correct usage of Sindhi in the media. Dr Mazhar Dhotio, Head of the IT Department of Liyari University, expressed readiness to support Sindhi Language Authority in teaching the language through online platforms.
Secretary Prof Dr Ihsan Danish welcomed the guests and provided insights into the institution's ambitious future plans, including a series of comprehensive training programs on various literary techniques and arts at the Sindhi Learning Centre in Karachi.
