Customs member pledges to streamline export processes

LAHORE. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s Member (Customs), Zeba Hai Azhar has affirmed her commitment to resolving issues in the Export Facilitate Scheme (EFS) and streamlining customs procedures, aiming to facilitate exporters and enhance the focus on boosting exports. During an interactive session at the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) in Lahore on Monday, she addressed concerns related to exports and customs procedures.

Expressing the significance of exports, Azhar instructed officers to prioritise facilitating the textile industry for export promotion. She committed to resolving system-related issues in consultation with relevant authorities, such as WeBOC, PRAL, and PWC. She anticipated that most system challenges would be resolved within the week, with deployment by the following week. Acknowledging APTMA’s genuine demands, Azhar highlighted the need for moderate valuation rulings.

Chairman APTMA North, Kamran Arshad, raised concerns about delays in the rectification of CRFs affecting indirect exports. He proposed waiving the 10% value addition condition due to cotton price fluctuations and suggested a committee to examine this aspect. Arshad also called for the issuance of IORs and Analysis certificates automatically based on FBR-prepared Textile Notes, urging strict compliance with the 30-day time limit. He also underscored the need to restrict manual document submissions and eliminate irritants in Valuation Rulings.
