The Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has officially declared the results of the Matriculation Supplementary Examination 2023.
BISE Chairman Mohammad Adnan Khan and Controller of Examinations Professor Sajid Mehmood Farooqui announced the results on Saturday.
In a trend consistent with previous years, female students have outperformed their male counterparts.
According to the chairman, a total of 13,275 candidates applied for the matriculation (second annual) examination, with 13,180 candidates appearing for the exam.
Among the participants, 8,654 were male students, and 4,526 were female students. Out of these, 4,884 candidates successfully passed the examination, while 8,223 did not. Additionally, 90 candidates were marked absent. The overall success rate for the exam was recorded at 37.1 per cent.

Breaking down the results, the chairman said the success rate for female students stood at 45.65 per cent, surpassing the male students whose success rate was 32.62 per cent. A total of 1,500 candidates were marked absent from the male category. Notably, 17 students secured an A plus grade, 96 students achieved an A grade, 271 secured a B grade, 1,094 got a C grade, 2,210 received a D grade, and 636 secured an E grade.
The chairman extended his congratulations to the controller examinations and commended the board officers and employees for their efforts.
The results have been made available on the board's website, and students have also been informed through the SMS service. Students who did not pass or have compartment results will have the opportunity to participate in the annual matriculation exams starting from March 1, 2024. Moreover, the BISE claimed that the examination system has been made transparent, and in the future, admission forms will be submitted online. The process for submitting admissions began on November 15, and the next year's matric results will be announced using a grading system rather than the current one.
