The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government is set to establish a commission to definitively resolve the boundary dispute between Lower and Upper South Waziristan districts.
Caretaker Minister for Newly Merged Districts Affairs, Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, Dr Aamer Abdullah made this announcement during his visit to the district, affirming the government’s commitment to addressing longstanding issues in the tribal districts.
Engaging with tribal elders, elected representatives, and youth at the district headquarters in Wana, Minister Abdullah actively participated in a significant grand jirga.
Key officials, including Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nasir Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kashmir Khan, and District Police Officer Farmanullah Wardag, joined the jirga to discuss critical matters.
The provincial minister received comprehensive briefings on the status and progress of development projects in Lower South Waziristan, covering government initiatives, administrative efforts, and the prevailing law and order situation.
During direct interactions with local dignitaries and youth, Dr Aamer Abdullah sought insights into grassroots-level public issues.

Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the tribal people, Minister Abdullah affirmed that Waziristan’s development and prosperity are top priorities for the provincial government.
He pledged personal commitment to assess and address problems in the merged districts promptly, emphasizing resource allocation for the health and education sectors and a zero-tolerance approach to negligence.
Plans were announced to eliminate non-functional schools and health facilities through a survey. The minister underscored the importance of enhancing the agriculture sector in Lower South Waziristan, highlighting a survey of small dams and the preparation of a feasibility report.
He assured the jirga of establishing vocational centers at every tehsil level and emphasized community support to tackle drug-related issues.
Minister Abdullah committed to forming a special commission to delineate the borders of Upper and Lower South Waziristan, addressing a crucial concern in the region and signaling the government’s proactive stance on regional stability and development.
